Fani Meze
Be honest: Sometimes you choose restaurants based on how good they’ll look on Instagram. Open only since February 2016, the photogenic Fani Meze is located inside a repurposed old house and decorated with black-and-white photographs from old Greek movies. Add classic taverna chairs, tables and a rustic fireplace, and you won’t want to sit outside even as the weather warms up. But venture there anyway, because a lovely garden beckons. Wherever you choose to plonk down, you’ll be served the same delicious meze sourced from all across the country. Try the meatballs spiked with ouzo, chargrilled talagani cheese with a tomato marmalade, Cretan apaki featuring smoked pork marinated with vinegar and spices, and the traditional Thessalonikean cheese delicacy known as Bougiourdi.
